Trade and Industry invites companies to participate in investment and trade initiative to India

South African companies have until Friday, 30 October 2015 to apply to participate in the 7th Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) to Kolkata and Hyderabad India from 22 - 26 February 2016.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the ITI is part of the dti’s objective to create market penetration for South African value-added products and services in India and to promote South Africa as a trade and investment destination.

Davies adds that the ITI programme of activities will include trade and investment seminars, mini exhibitions, business-to-business meetings and site visits to prospective projects.

The invitation is open to manufacturers and exporters in the following sectors:

  • Agro-processing
  • Chemicals
  • Mining /Minerals
  • Capital Equipment

Minister Davies emphasises that this 7th Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) is also an opportunity for companies seeking to attract Foreign Direct Investment and project owners or managers seeking joint venture partnerships in the sectors of: Pharmaceuticals, Mining beneficiation, Leather and footwear, Infrastructure and Renewable energy.

The South African companies applying to participate in the mission will be screened and selected in line with the dti’s Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme (EMIA) requirements.

The approved companies will receive a subsistence allowance, an economy-class return airfares and excess baggage allowance for display material and samples.

“South Africa currently ranks second in the list of African exporters to India. The bilateral trade relations between the two countries have grown strong after 1994. It has witnessed steady growth from R42 billion in 2010 to R90 billion in 2014 in favour of India,” adds Minister Davies.
