Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Tobias-Pokolo presents the community of Mzamomhle with food parcels and blankets

The department of Trade and Industry (the dti) Deputy Minister Thandi Tobias-Pokolo took her outreach mission to the Eastern Cape township of Mzamomhle, in Burgersdorp, on a mission to deliver blankets and food parcels to the Umthunzi Wokuphumla Old Age home on 13 April 2012. The ceremony formed part of deputy minister’s constitutional duties and corporate social responsibility.

“As much as my portfolio constituted matters of trade and the economy, I was driven to action by the letter of appeal that was sent to my office by the founder of the Umthunzi Wokuphumla Old Age Home, Ms Nodazibone Jacobs,” said the deputy minister. She also said that she was hopeful that the food parcels and the blankets would come in very handy for the elders as the autumn season has already descended into the country.

Tobias-Pokolo concluded by making an undertaking that the visit was not her last, and that she would engage the department of social development and public works to make sure next time the three departments devise a three pronged approach to make sure that the needs of the community are fulfilled to the best way possible.
