The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Greenbro (Pty) Ltd Mr Billy Murray says small companies like his would not have an opportunity to access the international market if it was not for the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti).
Breenbro is one of the forty three (43) companies that will be participating in the Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which will be led by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe from 16 - 21 September 2013.
According to Murray, taking part in the ITI will give the company exposure and enable it to meet major electrical companies in DRC.
“We are going there with an open mind and looking forward to the business-to-business meetings with our counterparts in DRC,” says Murray.
Murray says he has participated in three other initiatives to Zimbabwe, Ghana and Benin. He says the participation yielded positive results for the company.
“the dti is really coming through for us, as a small company. We would not have managed to undertake such international missions on our own,” says Murray.
The Western Cape-based company manufactures polyetheylene electrical enclosures for electrical supply authorities such as Eskom. the dti has already assisted hundreds of businesspeople through its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme (EMIA). The EMIA scheme develops export markets for South African products and services and recruits new foreign direct investment into South Africa.
