Three more lives lost on the North West Roads

Three people were killed in two separate accidents on the North West roads last night. Two pedestrians, a man and a woman were hit and killed by a vehicle in muilskraal outside Klersdorp.

According to Police the two were walking in the middle of the road in the darkness, when the unfortunate accident happened. It is alleged that the two were walking with children and were hit and killed by a car when they were both trying to run away in different directions. The two children escaped unharmed.

In another separate accident a man died when he lost control on a sharp band and the vehicle then crushed on to a tree in Vermaasdrift outside Potchefstroom. Thus far the North West has recorded 11 fatalities since the beginning of the long Easter Weekend.

The MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison Nono Maloyi called on pedestrians to wear reflective clothes when walking during the night and further advised that they should refrain from working in the middle of the road.
