A tanker caught fire after it collided with a bakkie on the R503 Lichtenburg –Mahikeng road in the North West Province on Wednesday evening.
The inferno was reportedly caused by the diesel that spilled after the tanker which was from Mahikeng towards Lichtenburg rolled after the minor collision. No one was injured in the crash that occurred at around 6:00pm near the Bakerville junction about 18 kilometers from Lichtenburg.
Members of the North West Provincial Road Traffic Unit are deployed to direct traffic towards the R505 Lichtenburg- Ottoshoop road to connect to the R49 Zeerust-Mahikeng road as an alternative routes as that the road will be closed for the night as the tar road is on fire.
