Following months of intensive investigation the mighty hand of the law has finally caught up with a man linked to the murder of Ms Nare Mashamaite, a good train driver. Over the weekend the police arrested Manyere Jerry Shuma (22) of Mberengwa village in Zimbabwe.
Shumba was initially arrested for a series of house breaking in Tshilwavhusiku and further police investigation positively linked him to the rape and brutal murder of Ms Mashamaite in June this year. Mashamaite was raped and strangled to death at Makhado station when she and her assistant stopped the train to inspect what they thought was break failures.
Mberengwa briefly appeared in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court and his case has been postponed to 22 October 2012 for formal bail application. Police investigations are at an advanced stage to bring Shumba’s accomplice to book.
