North West traffic authorities on Tuesday evening appealed to motorists travelling on the R503 Mafikeng-Lichtenburg road to drive slowly and with caution in order to avoid accidents as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and lightning makes it virtually impossible for motorists to see cars ahead.
The provincial Department of Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison's call centre has received report that a storm accompanied by hail in the Lichtenburg area. The hail has closed the Lichtenburg-Deelpan road making it unsafe for motorists to travel on it. Motorists travelling from Lichtenburg to Deelpan are advised to use the alternative road, i.e. drive towards Itsoseng then through Verdwaal, Sprinbokpan, Goedgevonden then Deelpan.
