Statement by Ministry of Communications on issues relating to Mamodupi Mohlala

The Ministry of Communications has noted media reports pertaining to the "return" of Ms Mamodupi Mohlala to her former position as Director-General of the Department of Communications.

This followed an out of court agreement reached between the ministry and Ms Mohlala and endorsed by the Labour Court last month.

According to the agreement, the Ministry of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) is to seek alternative employment for Ms Mohlala within the public service.

The DPSA requested that Ms Mohlala take a 30 day leave of absence to allow this process to unfold.

The DPSA has further requested that the leave of absence initially granted be extended by seven days with effect from today for them to finalise the process.

In this regard, Dr Harold Wesso remains the acting Director-General of the Department of Communications.
