Statement from the Director-General: Basic Education, Mr PB Soobrayan, in response to the report of the Presidential Task Team

The Director-General of Basic Education, Mr PB Soobrayan, has noted the statement issued by the Presidency on 5 October 2012 on the Report of the Presidential Task Team to investigate the non-delivery and/or delays in the delivery of Learning and Teaching Support Materials (LTSM) in Limpopo schools in 2012.

The Director-General welcomes the referral of the matter by the President to the Public Service Commission as he has full confidence in the credibility, objectivity and processes of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The Director-General has not received the Report and is therefore not in a position to comment on the findings of the Report, particularly those against him. However, Director-General Soobrayan welcomes the opportunity that will be provided by the Public Service Commission to state his case and clear his name in this regard.
