Statement by the Department of Defence regarding planned illegal assembly at South African National Defence Force (SANDF) bases and units

It has come to the attention of the Department of Defence that people are travelling from various areas of the country with the intention of assembling at the De Brug Training Area outside Bloemfontein and other South African National Defence Force (SANDF) bases and units, after having being led into believing that they would be integrated into the SANDF.

The department would like to reiterate that there is no integration planned by the department as the integration process ended when the Termination of Integration Intake Act of 2001 and the Demobilisation Amendment Act of 2001 formally and legally brought the Integration process to an end on 31 December 2002.

The public is warned that the country's security forces will enforce relevant laws to ensure that no unauthorised persons enter SANDF bases or units, and that any person or persons attempting to illegally assemble, on or near any SANDF base or unit, will face the full might of the law.
