The Department of Defence continues to receive reports that certain individuals are recruiting ex soldiers with the promise of cash payments, or with the promise of integration into the Southern African National Defence Force (SANDF). Furthermore, the department has been informed that individuals who are recruiting these ex soldiers are inviting them to assemble at SANDF military bases, either for integration purposes, or to receive the alleged cash payments.
The Department of Defence would like to reiterate that the Termination of Integration Intake Act of 2001 and the Demobilisation Amendment Act of 2001 formally and legally brought the Integration process to an end on 31 December 2002.
With regards to the issue of cash payments, the department confirms that no payments will be made to members of the ex-South West African Territory Force, Koevoet and ex SANDF members.
The public is warned that the country's security forces will enforce relevant laws to ensure that no unauthorised persons enter SANDF bases or units and that the perpetrators of such alleged activities will meet with the full might of the law.
