It has come to the attention of the Department of Defence (DoD) that certain members of the former South African Defence Force (SADF) will be assembling at the Department of Defence’s Mobilisation Centre at De Brug near Bloemfontein on Monday, 7 February with the purpose of integrating into the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
The Department of Defence would like to reiterate that the Termination of Integration Intake Act of 2001 and the Demobilisation Amendment Act of 2001 formally and legally brought the Integration process to an end on 31 December 2002. The DoD has no knowledge of the messages that were apparently being sent to the group concerned, informing them to report at the venue mentioned above.
With regard to the integration process, former non-statutory forces and statutory force members were integrated to form the SANDF. In order to be integrated, members’ names had to appear on the certified personnel register submitted by the commanders of the former respective forces.
The integration process was formally terminated when Parliament passed the Termination of Integration Intake Act of 2001. Persons who are part of this are warned that the SANDF will enforce relevant laws to ensure that no unauthorised persons enter its bases or units, and will be met with the full might of the law.
