The Portfolio Committee on Energy learned of the death of one of its members, Mr Cobus Schmidt with great sadness and shock.
Mr Schmidt had been with the committee since the beginning of the fourth Parliament earlier this year. As a member of the official opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, he played a major role in the committee’s work. Always presenting his inputs in an informed and forthright manner, it is clear to us that his passing will leave a huge void within the committee. Parliament has indeed lost one of its most committed members.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, the Democratic Alliance and friends during this difficult time.
