Sports infrastructure in the North West are to be improved and a competitive and entertaining sports spirit generated to give youth lesser or no reasons to indulge in self destructive practices, North West Premier, Thandi Modise said in her State of the Province address on Friday.
In highlighting the importance of sports, Premier Modise said that the FIFA Football World Cup has made the province aware that a sport is not an underbelly of any society but also one of the critical means of achieving social cohesion.
Modise urged youth to use multi-purpose centres and the Mmabana facilities optimally. She said that the provincial government wants Mmabana to return to its former constructive role andmake strong links with other stars and products of Mmabana like Presley Chweneyagae of the Tsotsi fame, Tshidi Moholo of Malaika and KB Motsilenyane of Rythm City soapie on the popular free for all channel among others.
