Sport and Recreation South Africa hosts sport science workshop

Sport and Recreation South Africa’s Scientific Support Directorate is hosting its annual stakeholder workshop which is attended by all its stakeholders, inlcuding national federations, school sport codes, provincial academies of sport, tertiary institutions, coaches, centres of specialisation, and provincial departments of sport and recreation.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Scientific Support Services Directorate to inform its stakeholders of services that the directorate currently offers, and to inform the stakeholders of processes that they need to follow to access these services. Reports on progress so far will be made and changes to the programme in order to improve on the services will also be announced and discussed.

Representation per stakeholder is as follows:

  • one school sport and one sport development representative per national federation
  • one representative per Provincial Academy (PA)
  • one representative per Tertiary Institution (TI)
  • one representative per residential school
  • invited medical commission members

The previous annual stakeholder workshop was held in November 2009, in Johannesburg, at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre, and attended by just over 40 delegates.

In this year’s edition over 90 delegates are expected to attend the workshop.
