The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Reveverend Makhenkesi Stofile met with the Gauteng Cricket Board today. The meeting was held to gather facts about the dispute between Gauteng Cricket Board (GCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA). This follows a similar meeting the Minister had with CSA last week.
After considering facts from both sides of the dispute, the Minister is confident that the dispute should be settled within seven days. To make this a reality, the Minister has appointed the mediators, Brian Currin and Khabo Mamba, both respected lawyers, who will resume duties on Wednesday, 29 July 2009.
We urge sport lovers to give the mediation process a chance. We also wish to thank both CSA and GCB for their willingness to work with the mediators and have the matter settled speedily to restore the image of Cricket.
