Special Investigating Unit on allegations of corruption made in Parliament

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) refutes in the strongest possible terms the allegations of corruption made in Parliament yesterday, in response to the Presidency’s Budget Vote.

The SIU assures the public that it handles all cases brought to it by members of the public or state institutions without fear or favour. The SIU investigations are handled with the strictest confidentiality and once completed the law requires the report to be sent to the President. Consequence management and legal actions are implemented without delay.

Each case is handled independently on its own merits, with the integrity and vigour it deserves. The SIU is steadfast in its commitment to uphold the rule of law and the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa in the implementation of its mandate. The SIU will fight corruption wherever it manifests itself within our society.

To date SIU has made significant strides in improving its business process and has  recovered  significant amounts lost through corrupt activities.

Responsible citizens are obligated to report any acts of corruption or misconduct by the investigators of the SIU, to the Head of the SIU Advocate Andy Mothibi (info@siu.org.za) or to the nearest police station or through the Anti-Corruption hotline 0800 701 701.

Fighting corruption is everyone’s business. Which requires cooperation with government, citizens, business, labour and civil society.

Together we can rid our society of corruption!
