Your Excellency Mr President, we are gathered here today to celebrate with the people of uMgungundlovu and surrounds, further success to government service delivery.
Mr President as we head towards the celebration of twenty years since the dawn of democracy, we know that you are the one person most knowledgeable about the kinds and amounts of challenges we took over.
We are all aware that due to your intense knowledge and understanding of the under-privileged conditions of many of our people, you have a deep appreciation of the need that we as government must ensure that all aspects of the Programme of Action are brought to life.
As we continue to deal with the total improvement of the lives of South Africans we cannot do so without the central role that water plays and is therefore critical within all planning. As a country we have come to realise that truly water is life. We are of the opinion that in order for all life to be improved, the provision of water for all socio-economic development cannot be overlooked.
Today Mr President we are truly appreciative that you have taken the time to honour our invitation and agreed to come and launch this important water infrastructure. The people of KwaZulu-Natal, even further from this region, will truly benefit from this project which has been identified as an important part of the economically critical region of the province.
As I will be requesting the President to take the podium, I have to remind all of us that the Second National water resource strategy as launched by the Department of Water Affairs in July this year, does enjoin all of us as water users in our own respects, to protect, use, conserve and manage water in a sustainable manner. I believe that through your presence here amongst us this morning Mr President, that message of government will be made clearer and appreciated by all of us.
Your leadership and direction in the work of government and especially in the identification of infrastructure development as a means of unlocking all the potential to deliver services to our people is held in the highest regard by all of us.
I will now with all humility request that I take a bit of time to do the easiest part of my job here today and that is really to request the President to take the podium and address this august gathering, on this very special day when we have come to launch another critical piece of service delivery Mr President, under your most able leadership.
