The Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Honourable Supra Mahumapelo, led a March by Men against women and children abuse in Paardekraal, Rustenburg on Saturday, 6 April 2013. The March was organised by Bishop Manas Kabelo and the Men Ministry of the Life Changers Church International.
In his keynote address, Hon Mahumapelo said that God has sent us as men in our families to love our wives and protect the children we are blessed with. We must therefore not tire to continuously recruit men to righteousness until we defeat these satanic deeds.
Hon Mahumapelo further stated that there will be quarterly religious sectoral parliaments in the North West Provincial Legislature in order to assess progress with regard to our mandate. And further advice the Legislature on their core mandate since the role of the Church cannot be undermined.
Bishop Manas Kabelo applauded the presence of the Speaker and being part of sending a message to the forces of darkness that we say “No” to the abuse of women and children. He led all men in the pledge: “We as men are saying ‘No’ to the abuse of women and children, and may the good Lord have mercy upon us.
The Devil is a liar; we refuse to abuse because we are blessed and capable men in the name of Jesus”. He further led a mass prayer for the leadership on of the Speaker in all his capacities in the North West Province.
The message of support from the South African Police Services representative, Constable Riet, led to the visit of the Speaker at Boitekong Police Station. He said despite them having projects and campaigns on abuse of women and children in particular, they are understaffed and under-resourced at the ‘inaccessible’ Boitekong police station.
