The Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa, as chairperson of the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) will meet with his counterparts from the Southern African region on Friday, 9 April 2010. Central to the discussions, will be the review of the progress on security preparations and cooperation for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The ministers will also pay attention to other security issues including looking at various mechanisms on how to deal with cross-border crime trafficking, the proliferation of illegal firearms amongst these countries, as well as the review of the 10th anniversary of the Code of Conduct of SARPCCO. Countries that form part of SARPCCO include Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, DRC, Mauritius and Tanzania.
