South African Reserve Bank Governor (SARB), Ms Gill Marcus has been awarded the 2012 Central Bank Governor of the Year Award for Sub-Saharan Africa by Emerging Markets, a unique source of news on economic policy, international economics and global financial markets with a focus on emerging economies.
The annual Emerging Markets Central Bank Governor and Finance Minister of the Year awards recognised Ms Marcus for her actions taken to limit the impact of the global economic crisis on the South African economy.
The awards are selected by the emerging markets editorial team, taking into account the views of regional experts. The winners are announced in the emerging markets daily newspapers, published at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank annual meetings.
