The trial of warrant officer, Inspector Snyders who was a court orderly at Belville Magistrates Court will be starting at the Cape Town High Court on 12 April 2010. Inspector Snyders is to go on trial for the alleged murder of Mr Norman Swartz on 10 January 2008, who was allegedly shot execution style in Spoonbill Street, Eersteriver. It is alleged that Inspector Snyders suspected that the deceased had a relationship with his wife.
After shooting Mr Swartz, the suspect allegedly loaded the body of the deceased into his car and dumped it in the bushes. After an extensive search, the deceased’s body was found about one kilometre away from the scene.
The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) investigated the matter and made recommendations for prosecution. The suspect has been on suspension since January 2008.
