The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) is investigating a rape case against Constable Vuyani Alfred Peter attached to Ventersburg SAPS in the Free State.
It is alleged that the accused, a 32 year old police constable visited his ex-girlfriend at her home in Phahameng, Ventersburg at around 12h30 on 4 April 2010. Apparently the suspect forced himself on the victim after she had finished taking a bath.
The victim reported the matter to the police who went out and managed to apprehend the suspect on that same day. The police then informed the ICD of the incident and the ICD immediately took over the case for further investigation. The suspect made a brief appearance at the Henneman Magistrate Court today, 6 April 2010 and the case was postponed to 20 April 2010 for a formal bail application.
