The Department of Defence regrets to announce the passing on of three members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) following a car accident that occurred on the N1 highway en-route Air Force Base Makhado from Pretoria.
Three members died on the scene while other seven passengers sustained minor injuries. Of the seven members, five have since been released from Nylstroom Hospital.
The names of the deceased will only be announced once their next-of-kin have been informed. The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Acting Chief of SANDF and Chief of the South African Air Force wish to convey their sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
The South African Police Service and the Military Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
