South African Government statement on the latest developments in the United Kingdom (UK)

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation has had regard to the swift action taken by the British Government to restore public order and address the causes behind the surge of rioting and public violence that flared up over the past days in London and some of the other big centres of the United Kingdom (UK).

The department is advising South Africans whose travel is non-essential to consider postponing or delaying their trips given the latest developments in that country.

The South African High Commission in London is readily available to assist any South African nationals who may require assistance.

The department offers a web-based platform known by its acronym ROSA (Registration of South African Citizens Abroad) for travellers to register itineraries and contact detail on. It can be accessed at http://ww.dirco.gov.za under the heading “Consular Services”.
