The President of the Republic of South Africa, HE Mr Jacob G Zuma, has today, Tuesday, 25 January 2011, on behalf of the government and the people of South Africa, extended the country’s deepest condolences to President Dmitry Medvedev, the people of Russia and especially to the victims and families of the deceased and the injured following the terror attack at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow, Russian Federation.
President Zuma said, “I have learnt with shock and sadness of the terror attack on the 24 January 2011, which killed over 35 innocent people and injured more than 100. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Russia and most especially those who have lost loved ones during this callous attack. South Africans share in your pain and sorrow.”
The Government of South Africa firmly condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and we will continue to stand together with Russia and the rest of the International community in defeating the enemies of peace and democracy.
