South African Flag to fly at half-mast in respect of the late former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs

President Jacob Zuma has instructed that the National Flag fly at half mast at every flag station in the country from 4 June 2009 until the evening of the funeral to mourn the passing of the late former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs Advocate Dirk du Toit.

Advocate du Toit served from 1999 to 2009 as Deputy Minister and the President has described him as a gallant person who contributed exceptionally well in nation building and social cohesion as well as a pioneer of the agriculture and land affairs legislative programmes.

“I would like to use this opportunity to extend our condolences to the family of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dirk du Toit, who passed away this week. His contribution will be sorely missed,” said President Jacob Zuma in his State of the Nation Address.
