Thabang John Moorosi, 31-year-old male, was sentenced to six life sentences for three murders and rapes, 15 years for one murder and a further one year for theft of two cell phones in the Bloemfontein High Court on Monday 21 May 2012. He was facing charges of Rape, Murder and Robbery.
In May 2010, the body of an unknown adult woman was discovered by a shepherd at Mangaung Phase 6 Dumping Site. She had been raped and strangled.
In December 2010, the body of an 18-year-old was discovered by a passer-by at the Mangaung Phase 6 Dumping Site. She had been strangled.
SAPS K9 Unit discovered the body of a 15-year-old girl in Mangaung in February 2011. She had been raped, stabbed and strangled.
A passer-by discovered the body of a 28-year-old covered with a mat at an open field in Uitsig in April 2011. She had been raped and strangled.
The arrest of the accused came about as a result of a joint investigation led by the Provincial General Detectives, Crime Intelligence, Bloemspruit Detectives, Kroonstad K9 Unit, Navalsig Detectives, Mangaung LCRC and Organised Crime Unit saw Thabang John Moorosi in May 2011.
“We applaud members for their dedication and expeditious conclusion of this investigation. Unity between different components ensured this success,” said Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khehla Sitole.
