Shongwe lauds the police for sentencing of Ndlovu’s murder suspect

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of one of the suspect for the killing Ehlanzeni District Municipality Chief Whip Johan Ndlovu.

“The conviction will send a strong message that our police and the justice system are indeed hard at work to bring about perpetrators of such heinous acts to book,” The MEC said.

He has since pleaded with the police to work even harder to ensure that the remaining suspects are prosecuted and sent to jail.

He further called on the police to continue with the same vigour when faced with such serious cases so that a message is sent to criminals and would-be criminals.

The suspects were arrested earlier this year in Bushbuckridge; after the MEC made an undertaking that the police will leave “no stone unturned” to bring the perpetrators to book.

The suspect, Life Khoza, was sentenced at the Circuit of the Pretoria High Court in yesterday, 11 October 2011 Nelspruit after pleading guilty to the murder of Ndlovu and armed robbery charges.

Khoza was sentenced to 20 years for murder and a further 15 year jail term for armed robbery.

Ndlovu was shot and killed a few metres away from his house at Thulamahashe in the Mhala district earlier this year.
