Share the road responsibly to reduce the carnage on public roads - Premier Modise

North West Premier Modise has appealed to motorists to share the road responsibly throughout the festive season and to desist from putting their own lives and those of other road users at risk through speeding, aggression, driving whilst tired and other irresponsible behaviour.

In calling for zero tolerance road traffic law enforcement and support for the Decade of Action for Road Safety Campaign, Premier Modise said that driver behavior still accounts for most fatalities on public roads.

“One death on our road is a death too many. While drivers need to be courteous towards each other, law enforcement should meet all offences, behaviour and attitude that will be detrimental to the safety of other road users and citizens with the full might of the law,” Modise stressed.

“Those who are travelling long distances should ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and remember that fatigue is a killer. They should stop and rest after 200 kilometers or being two hours on the road,” she added.
