Serial traffic offender with 19 warrants arrested at Rustenburg roadblock

North West Public Safety traffic law enforcement unit nicknamed JAWS gave the aphorism "you can run but you cannot hide" meaning by arresting a forty nine year truck driver for nineteen warrants for unpaid traffic fines at a road block in Rustenburg this week.

The serial traffic offender who paid the R11 120 (eleven thousand one hundred and twenty rands) fine after his arrest is among 218 motorists from around Rustenburg who felt the heat and the long arm of the law as the special operation to execute warrants of arrests for unpaid traffic fines is extended to cover the entire North West province.

The provincial traffic authorities have arrested 571 motorists and recouped over R265 000 in unpaid traffic fines since the special operations began 10 days ago. Three hundred and fifty warrants of arrests were executed around Mafikeng, Lichtenburg and Zeerust.
