The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) is investigating a shooting incident in which a police officer shot his wife and then committed suicide.
It is alleged that on the 10 May 2011 at about 23h00, a Sergeant who is a detective at Galeshewe police station in Kimberley, shot his wife with his service pistol at their home and turned the gun on himself. They both died at the scene. The ICD was notified on 11 May 2011.
The crime scene was attended by ICD investigators who conducted a preliminary investigation. At this stage, no foul play is suspected. The post-mortem is scheduled for 12 May 2011 in Kimberley. An inquest docket is being investigated.
