Self-confessed fraud physiotherapist still awaiting sentencing for defrauding the Department of Labour’s (DoL) Compensation Fund (CF), is to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Crime Court tomorrow, 20 November.
Jurry Sehunoe (34) from Rustenburg in the North West pleaded guilty in October 2011 to defrauding the Department of Labour of R2,1 million. Sehunoe pleaded guilty to 15 counts of fraud and 26 counts of money laundering.
His matter was two months ago postponed by Magistrate N. Setshogoe after failure by Correctional Services and the social workers to submit pre-sentencing reports.
Sehunoe was originally charged in the matter with two co-defendants, Maxwell Ramaphosa and Samuel Mfeleng who are both former employees of the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund.
In a separation of trial, the matter of Ramaphosa and Mfeleng was transferred to the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. The duo has pleaded not guilty. All the accused are out on a bail of R 3000.
The defendants (Ramaphosa and Mfeleng) are accused of alleged fraud activities which include working in collaboration with Sehunoe to swindle the Department of Labour by facilitating the submission and processing of fraudulent claims from the Department’s Compensation Fund.
The Compensation Fund is a public entity of the Department of Labour. The Fund provides compensation against occupational diseases and death.
