The Select Committee on Security and Constitutional Development met today to finalise the short-listing of written submissions received on the Traditional Courts Bill. The Committee also adopted the public hearings programme.
Committee Chairperson, Mr Tjheta Mofokeng said Members agreed to short-list 20 (out of more than 65) written submissions. The short-listed organisations will now be invited to Parliament to make oral presentations at public hearings, scheduled to take place from 18 to 21 September 2012.

The Committee also invited the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities and the National House of Traditional Leaders to present their positions on the proposed legislation.
