The call to enter the Biotech Fundi Awards is now open to all bio activists around Gauteng. The Biotech Fundi Awards are an initiative by the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD).
The objective of these awards is to support, promote and develop individuals and companies who make a significant impact on the biotech sector in Gauteng. The judging criteria enforces that all entrants should be South Africans who trade, reside and are registered in Gauteng. Individual adjudication committee members may not be nominated and may not enter the awards.
The Biotech Fundi Awards comprises of six categories as follows: bio entrepreneur award, research award, capacity builder award, communicator award, lifetime contribution award and public leadership award.
To make these awards a reality, the following sponsors came on board: BioPAD, eGoli BIO, Monsanto and The Innovation Hub. Gauteng is a vibrant scientific hub with research centres and academic institutions. This is a call to all biotechnologists to take up this opportunity and be recognised.
The awards will be held on 2 September 2009 at the Innovation Hub in Tshwane. Submission deadline is 7 August and application forms can be downloaded from the website: http://www.biotechfundiawards.co.za. Alternatively entry forms can be hand delivered to: Biotech Fundi Awards, Attention Mr Butane Mboniswa, The Innovation Hub, Mark Shuttleworth Street, Pretoria.
