The stage is now set for the Gauteng Secondary Schools Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held over two days, this Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th at the Pilditch Stadium in Tshwane.
This comes after the province successfully staged the Primary schools leg of the championships on the weekend of 2 and 3 March 2012 at the University of Pretoria, where Tshwane South claimed victory out of the 15 districts with 49 medals, 22 of which were gold.
The upcoming secondary schools athletics event, which remains the highlight of the province’s school sporting calendar, will again feature an abundance of young talent from All 15 Gauteng Education Districts and will provide a platform where future track and field champions are expected to shine.
The championships will be used to select athletes that will represent the province at the SA Athletics Championship that will be held at the Germiston Stadium from 30 March to the 1 April 2012.
