The Gauteng Department of Education is shocked by the stabbing incident at DF Malan High School in Meyerton. The Head of the Gauteng Department of Education is instituting an independent investigation into the incident. It appears an argument between the learners escalated up to the point where a learner was stabbed with an object. The victim is in a stable condition in hospital.
The school provided counselling to learners on Tuesday and the department has sent additional counsellors to the school today. The school has suspended the perpetrator and the school governing body will convene a disciplinary hearing for the learner.
