The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) takes note of the reports about the court order for the arrest of the Secretary for Defence, Dr Sam Gulube; Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Solly Shoke and the Chief of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Zakes Msimang. The SANDF would like to put matters into perspective regarding this matter.
The SANDF is aware of the court order to reinstate the members concerned into the South African Air Force which was handed down on 10 September 2013. Subsequently to the SANDF not reinstating the affected members a provisional order was granted for the SANDF to appear before court on 22 July 2014 in order to explain reasons why it (SANDF) has not complied with the court order to reinstate the affected members.
On 23 June 2014 the South African National Defence Union (SANDU) lodged an application for contempt of court order which was then granted today 1 July 2014. The senior counsel acting on behalf of the SANDF will be urgently approaching court for the stay of execution of the order that was granted today for the arrest of Department of Defence (DOD) senior officials mentioned in the court order.
The SANDF would once again like to register its concerns regarding the conduct and/or tendency of Mr Pikkie Greef working for or on behalf of SANDU to mislead the people of South Africa. The SANDF is shocked but not surprised that this behaviour and tendency of Mr Pikkie Greef has found its way to the courts.
The SANDF, once more, urges Mr Pikkie Greef to stop misleading the public about the SANDF affairs and portrays himself as the most patriotic person in this country and/or the person who can speak for the interests of the SANDF members. The SANDF is still wondering why Mr Pikkie Greef does not tell the people of South Africa why he left the SANDF if it was not to engage in matters aimed at discrediting and/or destabilising the SANDF or to undermine gains and achievements made by the SANDF post 1994.
