Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Sibongile Manana, is concerned about the rumours that there is a hit list circulating allegedly targeting corruption busters in the province.
It has been widely reported in the media that the murdered two officials, Jimmy Mohlala and Sammy Mpatlanyane were among the list of names of people who are to be killed for blowing the whistle on corruption.
MEC Manana has so far requested the Provincial Commissioner, Thulani Ntobela to set up an investigation into this matter.
“We are unaware of the hit list, and as long as people are not coming out with information to the police, this matter will remain rumours until an official investigation is concluded,” Manana said.
Manana is requesting the affected families to remain calm until the investigations have been finalised. The MEC promises that the police will do everything in their power to make sure that the perpetrators are arrested.
Manana also requests people to come forward if they have information regarding the allegations by calling Captain Leonard Hlati on 082 462 0804.
“The information will assist the police during the investigation to find the root of these allegations,” said Manana
