Robbery villians nabbed

Today, 25 August 2010, three men were arrested on a charge of house robbery. The incident occurred at Welgevonden farm in Dulstroom.

According to information received, five men wearing balaclavas, entered the farm and demanded the owner to open the safe. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery, cell phones and fled the scene in the farmer’s vehicle. The farmer and his neighbours managed to catch one of the thugs.

Two more were arrested in Belfast after their car collided with a truck while trying to evade the police. All three suspects were taken to hospital for treatment after the accident. After being discharged, they were sent into custody with the exception of the one who was badly injured.

Three firearms, one cell phone, laptop, Samsung flat screen TV and groceries together with the farmer’s vehicle were recovered.

Two other suspects managed to escape in a green S40 Volvo with registration number CZZ 621 FS, reportedly hijacked in Pretoria West during March.

We urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the two remaining suspects to contact Sergeant Johannes Maseko on 078 010 6791.
