Road Traffic Management Corporation sends condolences on death of Tshwane traffic officer

The corporation has learned with great sadness and shock on the untimely death of a Tshwane Traffic officer who was gunned down during a robbery in one of the famous food outlets in Lyttelton area. We wish to convey our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues on the sad passing of the officer. May his soul rest in peace.

The officer is reported to have walked by in one of the food outlets while an armed robbery was taking place. He was shot and killed instantly, the suspects sped off with an undisclosed amount of money. A case of murder has since been opened with the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The traffic fraternity has suffered a great loss in recent weeks, after two JMPD traffic officers were ran down by an alleged drunk driver while conducting a roadblock in Johannesburg. Also in Mpumalanga province, a traffic officer honoured for outstanding performance during the festive season died on the N4 after being hit by a vehicle while conducting his duties.

This is another reminder that we all need to roll our sleeves and redouble our efforts and assist law enforcement institutions to bring to book perpetrators of violent crimes in our country.
