308km/h Midrand speedster granted bail
A 36 year-old driver arrested for alleged reckless and negligent driving after posting a video of his vehicle driving at more than 300km/h has been granted bail by the Midrand Magistrate Court.
The suspect – Phumlile Ncube - appeared in court this morning following his arrest by members of the National Traffic Anti-Corruption Unit and the police over the weekend. He was granted R1000 bail and the case was postponed to March 13.
He is facing charges in connection with his alleged misconduct relating to reckless and negligent driving, and endangering the lives of other motorists by driving at a speed above the prescribed limit set in the National Road Traffic Act.
Meanwhile; media houses have applied to the Magistrate Court in Midrand to broadcast the trial live.
The media also sought permission to take still photographs during the trial.
