The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) requires social grant beneficiaries to perform life certification by verifying their voice prints through calling a toll-free number monthly before payments could be released.
As a caring institution, SASSA has paid attention to grants recipient's complains about the process, and SASSA is currently reviewing this proof of life voice solution.
Beneficiaries who use a PIN to access their grants at shops and ATM's will still continue receiving their grants during the review period.
From the 1st of August 2014, free cell phone simcards will no longer be issued at SASSA offices.
“We are committed to providing effective and efficient social services to our beneficiaries without any delays. Consistent with “Batho-Pele” principles, the agency places its beneficiary first,” said Virginia Petersen, SASSA CEO.
SASSA services are free, and should beneficiaries have any further queries regarding Proof of Life Certification kindly dial 0800 60 01 60 or 0800 60 10 11 toll free
