The Director-General, Ms Portia Molefe, has resigned from her post after five years of service, to pursue other interests. She will serve three months notice and will leave the department at the end of November 2009.
The Minister B Hogan and Deputy Minister, E Godongwana would like to thank her for her selfless service to the department, government and the country. Her insight into national economic imperatives, both at an enterprise and national level, has driven the departments' renewed focus on the state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as vehicles for industrial development and economic growth.
Her passion and dedication are legendary. She has transformed the department into a professional environment, committed to achieving excellence. She leaves a solid foundation that will enable the department to continue to achieve its mandate and execute existing and future projects.
The Minister and Deputy Minister wish her well in all her future endeavours.
