Reports that Correctional Services National Commissioner Tom Moyane as one of the top public servants in government had not met his legal obligations to declare his interests for the current financial year are devoid of truth.
The Department of Correctional Services has records of Commissioner Moyane’s declaration that cover the current financial year, which he signed on 7 March 2010, signed by his supervisor and dully submitted to the Public Service Commission on 14 April 2010.
Commissioner Moyane was already a head of a government department – Government Printing Works before being transferred to Correctional Services after his appointment. He will again declare, as he had always done in the previous years, when it is again time for declarations in 2011.
“I have been complying and declaring my interests during my whole career as a civil servant,” said Commissioner Moyane today in response to reports that he is one of the top civil servants called to order for non compliance.
The reports are therefore inaccurate and unfairly project Commissioner Moyane incorrectly and need to be corrected without delay.
