The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development acknowledges that there are challenges with one of the radiation machines at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
However, the hospital has made alternative arrangements to book patients in other machines.
Today a number of patients had already been booked and only a certain number could be accommodated.
Payment has already been processed with Gauteng Shared Service Centre (GSSC).
The department has been in contact with the service provider contracted to fix the machine. The company has assured the hospital that the machine will be repaired as soon as payment is received.
The department would like to assure the community that while the hospital is awaiting the repair of the radiation machine, service delivery and care of patients will not compromised.
