The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) has noted with dismay the purported criminal charges laid against its Minister, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson, Mining Minister Susan Shabangu and Water Affairs Minister Ms Buyelwa Sonjica, by the Transvaal Agricultural Union at the Brooklyn Police Station in Pretoria this week.
While the DAFF has not been formally made aware of the pending case against its Minister, it is highly imperative to mention that issues of water are managed by the Department of Water Affairs. Therefore, it is misdirected to take the ministry of DAFF to court over water-related issues.
