Springs in Ekurhuleni will be a hive of activity when the magnificent and blissful Puisano Live Music project comes to town. This is as the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation hosts the second showcase of the project at the Springs Theatre this coming Sunday, 22 November 2009, from 14h00.
Puisano Live Music project is aimed at promoting live music performances in communities and to develop a culture of music appreciation as an art form especially in townships. Gauteng is known as the home of live music performances where musicians live and embrace their art.
The four acts that will take centre stage in Springs are Pretoria-based band four seasons, Upbeat Jazz Band from Sedibeng and Ekurhuleni based bands Juxtaposed Virtue from Vosloorus and Wafa Wafa Sound System from Daveyton.
“Over the years Puisano Live Music perfomance project has not only been instrumental in promoting and creating market access for unsigned and unrecorded bands, but it has also strengthened the growth of live music circuit in the province, ” said Gauteng MEC for Sports Arts Culture and Recreation, Nelisiwe Mbatha-Mthimkulu.
The showcases will include a performance by a guest artist Vusi Khumalo and his band.
