Public hearings on the Protection of State Information Bill (B6B–2010) that were scheduled for 13 to 14 March 2012 have been rescheduled by the ad hoc committee dealing with the proposed legislation.
The rescheduling of the hearings is due to a number of factors which include the high volume of written submissions (263) received by the committee and the short-listing process that is still to be conducted by the committee.
The committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 14 March 2012 to shortlist and adopt a new programme that will take into account the reporting deadline of 17 May 2012.
The exact date of the public hearings will be reflected on the programme that will be adopted on Wednesday.
