Prosecutor sentenced to life for rape: Madadeni

Remmington Zamokuhle Ngema (42), a prosecutor at the Newcastle Magistrates Court was sentenced to life imprisonment today. This relates to the rape of a thirteen year old girl in October 2011. The girl is known to Mr Ngema and the offence took place whilst she was under his supervision.

Director of Public Prosecution in KZN, Adv M Noko welcomed the sentence, “This sentence shows the zero tolerance approach of the justice system to criminality. It should serve as a deterrent, even to our own staff members that all perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be held accountable.”

Mr Ngema’s application for leave to appeal was postponed to August. He will remain in custody till then.
